Cornerstone Church of Knoxville (CCK) is a church that uniquely embraces traditional Christian doctrine and values. When they contacted us, they were meeting in a school auditorium with construction plans underway for a new facility. They wanted a brand overhaul to coincide with the new construction as the current brand was generic, dated, and inconsistent with its brand message. I provided a complete spectrum of branding services, which included a new logo, collateral, website development, an online member survey, radio spots, and much more. The goal was to create a focused identity that expressed their traditional stance in a retro style (“old meets new”) in order to reach a wide demographic with a heavy emphasis towards University students.
Logo: I implemented a collegiate-style seal for the logo with the following elements: The tree represents the church with the cross being the center of the trunk indicating Christ’s centrality. The fruit represents the church members’ life and growth within the church. The flames along the sides represent the Holy Spirit as well as uplifted praising hands. All items were printed on unique papers and included specialty processes.
Mission Fund Brochure: The idea for this piece was to create a letter/package that looked like it was sent from the mission field during the 1930s. Used to help raise funds for the church’s mission fund. The details of the project included an old letter typed on an old typewriter, a book mark and tassel with a penny attached dated when the mission program was enacted. The cross symbol cut out of the penny suggests God is the owner of all things, even money, and that people are just the stewards of His gifts. The piece also included old black and white stained photos and a growth log. The paper clip that holds everything together was soaked it lemon juice and vinegar to create a rusted effect.
Guest Booklet: This multiple award-winning guest booklet provides visitors with information about the church. It was designed with leather imagery, stained papers, and specialty embossing.
Marriage Conference Brochure: This conference brochure was based on two famous authors and their book, “Love that Lasts.” It emulates and continues the idea of the rope and the “tying-the-knot” visual from the book. The rope is used as a continuum that connects a variety of married couples in various stages of life within the local church. The brochure includes a unique fold and special iridescent papers.
Grand Opening Invitation: This invitation was designed to fold out four times into a cross, the concept utilizes the childhood nursery rhyme with each unfold: “This is the church. This is the steeple. Open the doors and… see all the people.” Pictures of church members are on the final open in the die-cut shape of a cross.
